What the hell?

Pizza at the Top of the World.

Now that my car is running again I have been driving around a bit exploring. I drove across the border into New York on Thursday and took a drive through the mountians. It was a nice ride, but there are some seriously depressed towns out there. I bought myself a pizza at some random pizza place in some random town, then drove to the top of a mountain where I proceeded to eat said pizza.

Murderer.

Today, I ran a squirrel over. It was an accident, he just jumped out in front of me and under my tire before I could even slow down. I didn't even feel a bump, but glancing back in the rear view I saw his poor flattened body smeared across the road. Poor little guy, I feel terrible.

Resurection! Hallelujah!

My car is once again roadworthy. Thank goodness. And as soon as I get it going, what do I discover? Oh, just that the price of gas is $2.91! Great...

Ooh, ooh, a fun internet trend!

Poems based on the fibonacci sequence, how totally uncool is that!

So, anyway, here are a couple I wrote:

It

Me Mad,
SuDoKo.
But still I return
Into the logic's sweet embrace.

Cold
Beer
My ally
In the war
Against my own mind
Victory is assured over time

Funk.

I am in a funk. I have no motivation. I went for a long walk after class today, because that usually puts me in a better mood. Not so today. Just made my feet hurt. Ah well. Just wanted to whine a bit.

Peace.

Reptilian Serum

As I was walking into the supermarket this evening, a gentleman wearing far too many layers of clothing muttered 'Reptilian serum, man.' as I passed him. I was listening to my mp3 player as he said this, and he was saying other things but that particular phrase stood out clear as day. I wonder what the hell he was thinking when he said that?

Harsh Words.

So today I wrote a harsh letter to the corporate office of Family Dollar. I'll let y'all read it:

Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to inform you that I will no longer be patronizing your store and to let you know why. On April 4th at approximately five oclock in the afternoon I entered your store in North Adams. I walked about 10 feet into the store when one of your employees barked out at me "You have to leave your bag at the front," or something to that effect. She did not ask nicely; in fact she said it quite harshly. I understand that your store might have serious shoplifting problems, and normally I would not have a problem with leaving my backpack behind the front counter. So I went over to the area near the registers, and there was no clear area for bags to be left. So the clerk then said "You can leave it over there," indicating an insecure area near the register closest to the wall. She was just plain rude about it, however. Still, I intended to continue shopping. As a full-time student, I need to watch every penny and Family Dollar usually has some good deals, particularly on notebooks and miscellaneous school supplies. As I was making my way into the store, I noticed that about half of the 8 or so customers in line all had bags or purses on them. So it appears to me that I was singled out as a potential shoplifter upon entering your store. I dont like to take things of this nature personally, but being yelled at and being picked out as a possible thief really offended me. As your store is a deep-discount retailer, I do not expect a particularly high level of customer service from you. I don't need to be greeted or asked if I need help or anything, and I actually don't even really expect it from your type of store. However, the treatment I received in your store is really beyond the pale. I went next door to CVS, and I found what I was looking for (a highlighter and some folders). I may have paid slightly more, but it is worth 50 cents or a dollar more to me to be treated with a modicum of respect. I suspect your store will not be able to compete if your level of customer service remains unchanged. There is a CVS, a Brooks, and the Big Y in the immediate area, along with a Wal-Mart within easy driving distance, all of which provide a much friendlier atmosphere for shopping.

That was fun. I think I will write more harsh letters in the future.

Nice Weather Today.

Greetings fellow travelers.

It's really nice out there today. I am glad that the weather has finally decided to warm up a little. I have been walking to school for the past three or four weeks, as my car is not really working at the moment. It is either the battery or the alternator, and I haven't really had the time to either fix it or get it fixed.

I had spring break a few weeks ago, and I did absolutely nothing productive. I suppose I could have fixed my car then, but it was well below freezing every day and I really didn't feel like being outside in the cold. So I stayed inside. And played video games. Lots of video games. Let's see, in the course of a week I finished a whole bunch of games that I had started and never finished. Call of Cthulu, Chronicles of Riddick, Freedom Fighters, Jade Empire, Knights of the Old Republic 2, Metal Gear Solid 2, and maybe even a couple of others I can't remember right now. Oh yeah, I finished Neverwinter Nights for PC the week before. Now, I must confess I feel slightly guilty about something. I didn't use cheat codes or anything, but I did have FAQs handy for when I got stuck. If I had to take more than two or three tries to figure out a puzzle or beat a boss, "BAM" straight to the FAQ for the how to. I feel a little dirty about it, but I am glad to have finished games that had been sitting on the shelf for so long. All of the games I have listed are well worth playing, by the way. None are perfect, but all are very decent and fun games.

I have since started playing GTA: San Andreas again, and I will have something to say about that game at a later date.

Last week was a busy week in school, had a couple of papers to write. It's odd, but I think the thing I like most about school is writing papers. One little thing that occurred to me is that while I write a lot of things (this blog, for instance) no one is usually obligated to read any of it. However, with a paper for school, I know that someone is definitely going to at least read some of it. It's a novel thing for me, a captive audience.

I'm really looking forward to spring, and getting outside more. I may have been hallucinating, but I think I saw pieces of green here and there on the ground and in the trees. It's about time, damn it.

Peace.
